carcinogenic (February)

Restless stomping into the eye
Of boredom and unflinching
80’s hits, polluting consciousness;
Life’s triple bypass. Old friends
Clambering at shut doors and technology
Guessing every second step.
Catching forty winks at your desk
Results in double time and sneaking,
Whimpering Monday morning disappointments.
Ease into your chair, soft cushiony luxury
Like pins in your arse.
Hours limping into months and you.
You are no further along Everest. You’re
Gossiping at vending machines and watching days
Turn into small events.
